Beginner question: Can I use this plugin to upload images to Firebase Storage?

I'm having a problem with my app where I want the user to upload multiple images to Firebase Storage. This is a very very slow process. Can I use this to solve this slow upload problem? Can I use it for uploading in a separate isolate?
