Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

The fluentd image we use currently ships a version of this plugin with a bug that affects us ( #115 ).

I'd like to get the fix into the next release of that Image (https://github.com/kube-logging/fluentd-images/issues/57).

Describe alternatives you've considered

Only workaround would be to install gem directly from github instead of RubyGems. This feels unclean and unneccessary.
