confusing options in fleetdm UI for creating new users

Fleet version: Fleet 4.47.0 • Go go1.21.7

Web browser and operating system: Chrome 124.0.6367.119 (Official Build) (x86_64) on MacOS

The current user creation dialogue shows the create user and invite user options as mutually exclusive. This is confusing, as inviting a user also creates them (or at least does part of it and completes it after the invitation is accepted etc.), AFAIK.

This is probably a remenant of what happened here: https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/369

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not by your definition. I'm also not familiar with the inner workings of fleet to suggest an improvement. There are generally 2 approaches. that come to mind:

  • Add explenations in form of tooltips or similar
  • Remove the create user option alltogether and make invite user an opt-in on top of creating the user.
