Fix import issue with Next.js 14

Addressed #271 by moving the code from firebase.js that imports firebase-admin to another file.

Also applied minor updates to dependencies. (I was not able to test those thoroughly, so I will revert that part if it’s any concern.)

Also did some tidying up.
