Feature: Folder aliases / Jump lists

Open tnaseem opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

Having the ability to jump to custom folders via the keyboard would be a welcome addition.

In Directory Opus, you hit the '/' key which presents all the user-defined aliases. As you type, this list shows the filtered-down ones, which you can select from.

We would need an options screen where you can create a list of aliases, ie:

Example of hitting '/' and typing the first few characters of the alias to filter down the folders:

Requirements

  • A section in settings will be required to enter details of each alias that the user requires.
  • Keyboard shortcuts customization (this can be done via the actions page)?

Files Version

2.5.21.0

Windows Version

10.0.22631.2199

Thanks for the feedback, I've added this to the project board.

Not exactly the same behavior as Windows Files Explorer but / did its job relatively well.

@yaira2 Should this be apart of the Omnibar?

If implemented, it would be a part of the Omnibar.
