Sending special characters via "idb ui text" does not work

Description
Sending an email address does not work because. It seems the "@" can not be transmitted. Which is a real dealbreaker since we need to be able to test user login (which usually is done with email)
Reproduction
$ idb ui text "[email protected]"
will result in "me_myhome.com"

I'm having the same issue, except I'm able to type the @ sign just fine. I'm not able to type the underscore. All of our test accounts contain an underscore in the email, so this is proving troublesome.
It appears to be related to your computer's keyboard configuration and that of the iOS simulator keyboard. E.g.: with a French keyboard, "a" is replaced by "q" on the iOS simulator that is configured with a US keyboard. When the 2 configurations are identical, the text seems to be sent correctly.
