Publish pvEnergy

Open mincequi opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

For better analytics, I would like to also publish the total pvEnergy over time. Hopefully, this is useful.

Please let me know, if I can improve this PR. :)

Refs https://github.com/evcc-io/evcc/issues/3198 at least regarding naming convention.

Personally for me it seems not needed, as pv generated energy is shown in pv inverter apps. Less is more. IF it would be shown in EVCC it would be interesting to show sepparate PV’s as for example i have 2

We don't plan to visualise generic pv/energy metrics in the evcc ui. Like RTTTC said, vendor apps or pv-logging solutions usually do a decent job there. I'd recommend to not collect and expose data that we don't have an own use case for. I know it's tempting because everything else is already there, but I think it's good when we focus on our core: smart charging.

Well, this "less is more" philosophy enforces people to write a myriad of tools with partly overlapping functionality and none of these fulfills even the most basic features. At least for me, tracking produced and consumed energy seems to be basic enough here.

And yes, as @RTTTC stated, I would also be interested in tracking on a per inverter base (actually also per MPP).

EVCC does a decent job for smart charging, however still forces me to use several apps and daemons: SMA Energy, NodeRed, Shelly App, Home Assistant.

If EVCC would open up a little bit, this could be easily extended/generalized to a smart energy management daemon (beyond EV charging), but that's a different story.

In site.go I could find some hint, that tracking energy is already of interested anyway: // TODO: use energy instead of current power for better results

Hmm, ok. This is also something, I am highly interested in: track/visualise historic data. If that's not the focus of the main team, are you eager to accept PRs that would do this job for you?

@naltatis @premultiply I would be ok with adding this- could you add your thumbs up/down votes to this comment?

Ich enthalte mich. Wenn es irgendeinen internen Nutzen hat (z. B. für Statistik/Einsparungen) bin ich dafür.

Seems we‘re not making progress here. Close or fix?

Kostet nix.
