Tool for implementation score

Related to issue #69, I would like to propose a tool that calculates a score system for the implementation of SDScom, for every software provider to advertise his implementation status. This should differentiate between export and import, and we have to handle complex data types.

Some ideas:

  • Compare field coverage of an SDS printed vs. exported by the software.
  • Compare field coverage of a "reference" SDS vs. imported by the software.
  • Score the mapping of Value and derived data types
  • Score the mapping of phrases

The difficult part is two-fold:

  • How can we derive a single number (one for import, one for export) from the above?
  • What is the procedure? This includes manual data generation, thus cannot be fully automatic. Will a group of volunteers undertake the tests or should e.g. eSDScom Alliance handle this as a "certification authority"?

SDS-plausibility-check.pdf Here is a draft of a concept for calculating a score for completness of XML elements in comparison to the related XSD. This concept I already mentioned briefly at the 4th IT workshop.

Postponed to a broader tool chain discussion. May be solved together with a validating / quality assessment tool.
