Ribbon does not show after installation, no reg entries are created on installation

Open pawelkosi opened this issue 8 years ago • 12 comments

Hi

I have the same issue as here: https://github.com/elvirbrk/NoteHighlight2016/issues/7. Changing to admin did not work, interestingly I have checked the registry for the key and there is no key created under onenote/addIns , its just empty. What should I do now?

By the way - thank you for developing this, believe me I need it badly for my project.

I am seeing this issue as well. Installed using the x86 MSI for 32-bit OneNote 2016. I can see NoteHightlightAddin in the Add-ins menu, but the ribbon item is not loaded and the registry in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\OneNote\Addins is empty. No subkey for the addin is created.

Also having the same problem, it shows in the addins menu but not in the ribbon. Also no option to add it in from ribbon customisation.

Same as the other users above - no registry values for the add-in for OneNote after installing 64 bit version. I also do not see add-in in OneNote.

Sorry guys, I'm not much of a help here, because add-in can fail to load for numerous reasons. I only encountered issue with admin privileges and 32/64 bit mismatch between add-in and Office installation, but I guess you already tried that. Other than that, you can try additional troubleshooting like mentioned in: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4668777/how-to-troubleshoot-a-vsto-addin-that-does-not-load

Experiencing the same issue as others. No NoteHighlight tab is available, no add-in is displayed, no files in C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns.

Would love to see a fix or any input. This looks awesome.

One more thing you could try is to install VSTO runtime and .NET runtime. More details at https://www.xltoolbox.net/blog/2015/01/troubleshooting-vsto-add-ins-for-office.html

Edit: I am an idiot. Not sure why/how but I am running 32-bit MS Office on my 64-bit version of Windows. I downloaded the 32-bit version of the .msi file, and it works just fine!

So ... when running a 32b office on a 64b windows, this tool does not work?

No, sorry if my comment was confusing.

There is a 32bit and 64bit version of this plug in. You need to download whichever one corresponds to the version of Microsoft Office you're using. I'm running 32bit Microsoft Office so I need the 32bit version of this plug in.

My problem earlier was that I was using the 64bit version of this plug in with the 32bit version of MO.

I have tried all the suggestions in this thread and the add-in does not show.

Please also check #7.

Thanks @elvirbrk there was a post on there by @zhenfengren that worked for me. He basically posted to repair OneNote and install the add-in. I ended up doing a repair of Office 365 since that is how OneNote is installed on my machine.
