Mail does not keep connection in the background
What Happened?

Steps to Reproduce (Update)
Notifications started to work after I initiated the background process by executing flatpak run io.elementary.mail --background but still I haven't seen any badges yet. I am not really sure if this method will survive a reboot but it works for now.
~~1. Open Mail app. 2. Send an email to yourself from another account while the Mail is in the foreground. 3. Mail will not show any notifications nor badges. Still no badges 4. Close Mail. 5. Send another email to yourself. 6. Mail will not show any notifications, nor badges. 7. Check if it runs in the background from the System Monitor. 8. Nope, the process has been killed. 9. Conclusion; Mail does not show notifications whether it is in the foreground or in the background.~~
Expected Behavior
The Mail app has to act like the Calendar app; runs in the background and never misses any notification.
OS Version
6.x (Odin)
Software Version
Latest release (I have run all updates)
Are you sure your version of Mail is up to date? This functionality was added in 6.2. While it's possible the background daemon could be failing, it should still send notifications in the foreground.
If it is up to date then we can start searching for a cause. Do you see the new messages appear in the app, or do they not appear at all?
Maybe this is related to https://github.com/elementary/mail/issues/721

They do not appear at all.
