Thumbnails for HEIF/HEIC files not showing
What Happened?
When viewing a folder with heic files through the File app ( or Thunar File Manager ) thumbnails for the heic files do not show. A standard icon is displayed instead. It does appear that heif-gdk-pixbuf is installed and so is heif-thumbnailer.
There also is no default viewer for this file type. Installing Image viewer from the AppCenter allows me to view the files but the thumbnails still do not work.

Open File manager to a directory with heif/heic files
Expected Behavior
Thumbnail for the heif/heic file should be shown, not a standard icon.

I downloaded some sample HEIC files using the early access version of elementary OS8 and they were thumbnailed in Files without refreshing the view so I guess the later version of the thumbnailer (tumbler) can handle these files while the version available in 7.1 cannot. Unfortunately the elementary Photos app did not recognize these files as images so would not load them, but that issue should be reported to the Photos project.
@tradecraft1 are you able to confirm whether this is fixed for you in OS8?
