What kind of files are you trying to drop into FireFox and where are you dropping them? I can drag image files out of Files and drop them into GitHub comments on Chromium successfully, for example.

What happens if you try using Copy/Paste instead?

I have similar issues with FF. When I upload a file to, e.g. Octoprint (a 3D printing server), I have to keep the cursor in movement to have FF recognize a file drop.

Currently dropping an image file onto GitHub comments for example results in the (local) path of the file being pasted in rather than the image both on Chrome and on Firefox. Using Dolphin however a picture was sent on both Chrome and Firefox. This needs to be fixed when DnD is rewritten for Gtk4, if not before.

I can confirm the bug. I tested it with Chrome, Brave, and Firefox. When dragging and dropping a file from "Files" to any page that supports uploading files via drag and drop, it doesn't work. I checked the functionality using another file manager like "Thunar", and the behavior was correct.

I used Twitter, bluesky and this page https://www.dragdrop.com/test/ as test cases
