Global Search case sensitivity behaviour differs from local search

Open jeremypw opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

What Happened?

Performed a (case insensitive) global search for the phrase "Replace All"; the sidebar indicated there was a hit in a certain file but searching that file case-insensitive locally gave no results. It was found that the file contained the phrase "Replace all".

This is because local search ignores the case sensitivity setting if a mixed case search term is used. This behaviour is not reproduced in global search.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a file containing the phrase (e.g.) "Replace all".
  2. Globally search for "Replace All" - a hit is shown
  3. Locally search for "Replace All" - there are no hits.

Expected Behavior

When a hit is shown by global search it should also be found by local search.

OS Version

7.x (Horus)

Software Version

Latest release (I have run all updates)

I think it should be reconsidered whether separate settings switches are needed in the global search dialog as it is unclear to the user whether these are indeed separate or just reproduce the local settings (for which controls already exist).
