Startup crash on Nightly - JsonAdapter not found

Open davidegirardi opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Steps to reproduce

I think this started between Thursday the 4th and Friday the 5th last week.

  1. Fresh install of Element Android Nightly (Samsung A53 with all patches applied)
  2. Tap on the app icon

Outcome

What did you expect?

The app starting.

What happened instead?

The app crashes and Android asks if you want to clear the cache.

Clearing the cache, reinstalling while keeping the data, a full reinstall, or a fresh install give the same results.

Logcat

Output of adb logcat --buffer=crash: logcat.txt

I have fixed the nightly by disabling code shrinking in https://github.com/vector-im/element-android/commit/672151b8a2002d925dc27864e8bb230cd7a89385, but now we have to find a better solution. I am running out of ideas, all my attempts as failed so far :/

Seems to be caused by https://github.com/realm/realm-java/issues/7798, introduced in this commit and this PR.

Thanks @jmartinesp for the investigation.
