Changing Custom Model Data with /mitem

a few minecraft versions back you used to be able to change custom model data on an item with "/mitem configure CustomModelData [Value]". I notice there have been a lot of changes to nbt data in the recent updates that most likely broke this and was just wondering if it was still possible to change custom model data with a command like /mitem.
