= Kindle (for Ruby)

A collection of classes and scripts that can be used to manage a kindle notes files.

== Why?

I take a bunch of notes when I read and since getting a Kindle I've started to highlight and note important things directly in the Kindle book. Then I discovered that all of the notes are stored in a plain text file on the Kindle, I set out to find a way to copy them to my computer for backup and reviewing

== Uses

• List all of the books you have notes for
• Export your kindle notes to org-mode files, one file per book
• Export your kindle notes to CouchDB

== List Books

The bin/list_books.rb script can be used to list all of the books you have notes for and how many notes you have.

== Notes for book

The bin/notes_for_book.rb script will take a book name and output all of the notes for that specific book.

== Export notes to CouchDB

Using bin/setup_couch.rb and bin/import_into_couchdb.rb you can add all of your notes into CouchDB. Each book becomes a document in the 'kindle' database with the notes as an Array.

== Export notes to org-mode

For us emacs users, the bin/to_orgmode.rb will export all of the books to org-mode files.
