What do You *love* doing?

Open iteles opened this issue 7 years ago • 7 comments

dwyl is called dwyl for a reason, we want to help you make time for the things (and people) you love.

But most people don't even know what they love doing, they know they like doing certain things, but they've never really thought about what they love.

Having this list is essential. It will help you plan in these things, understand whether you're making time for the things that truly matter to you and attract the people you want to attract to your world.

What do you Love doing?

Here's my list, in no particular order:

  • [ ] Making things
    • [ ] Crafts - these days mostly things with meaning that I can share with others (but make by myself)
      • [ ] Digital crafts like photo diaries of trips and events that involve lots of 'papers', textures, colours and fonts
      • [ ] All the hand crafts that lead to pretty things, particularly those involving paper (learning calligraphy 😍, foil printing, trying different painting methods), mostly I just love to try different materials and see what I can do with them
    • [ ] Building up spaces for practicality and aesthetics
  • [ ] Sitting in front of the fire with a good book
  • [ ] Learning new, real world (away from a computer screen) things in a workshop setting - pretty much literally anything (except maybe exercise-related classes 😆)
  • [ ] Reading about things I could improve in life or the culture around me
  • [ ] Going for walks or hiking
  • [ ] Sharing knowledge in a forum where I get feedback (e.g. teaching or being a mentor)
  • [ ] Christmas! (really mostly the feeling of a slightly more positive outlook on world that most carry around this time of year - I know, I know, super contentious)
  • [ ] Finding things (surprising/quirky/original or even mundane) that make people's lives better and sharing these
    • I feel like this one needs more explanation but it's so wide-ranging. It's everything from fun, thoughtful, quirky, helpful, tasty 🍪 and practical gifts to reorganising a bedside space for the perfect evening routine (preparing the space for slumber and wakefulness the next morning)
    • Includes 'knowledge'
    • Includes making things that make people's lives better
  • [ ] Lusciously green spaces, with fruit-baring bushes and trees being even better (this may or may not include growing said greens, I am yet to do enough of this to know)
  • [ ] Spending a whole day by myself, without hearing the sound of my own voice or having anyone ask me questions, with space to think and progress
  • [ ] Listening to actionable podcasts whilst cooking & stopping to take notes
  • [ ] Singing and short dance parties with my favourite dance partner (guess who)
  • [ ] ~Being a hostess~ Preparing a space for a gathering
  • [ ] Going on guided tours of interesting new places and things
  • [ ] Definitely travel, but for the stories and the culture and the history (and the food), not for the tourist traps
  • [ ] Going to card shops and kitchen shops
  • [ ] Card ♠️ games and board games
  • [ ] Watching movies
  • [ ] Learning of the stories behind everything

Photography would probably make this list if I had time to learn how to do it well. But really the taking photos and not the editing photos.

There is a whole world out there to explore. There are so many things to try! https://youtu.be/pm2ZKk8EMyQ?t=63

Interesting question: I like place, communities where people study very hard what they love but help even other people to find what to love; help others in their work to find what to love for their life, like a guide, like Virgil poet that helps Dante in his journey (Divine Comedy). An hard wok but, I think, the only necessary

@newswim Did your friend have a similar reasoning for suggesting you make the list?

@MassimoCappellano Thanks for sharing!
