Sidebar template for chrome extensions

A lot of new extensions are providing a sidebar kind of interface for their extensions. Is this something that can be optimized globally for all websites or do you have to fine-tune it for each? Screenshot_37

Another one is a floating button. Would love to collaborate on this as a product manager. Haven't coded a lot in JS lately.
