Counties Availablitiy
I know absolutely zero on scripting. So, having said that if I'm asking a stupid question please forgive me. I was wondering if it's possible to lists all the countries a release is available upon import? At lease ones that share the same iTunes id. Because iTunes releases aren't really "worldwide" or just your local country. I live in the US, so it always imports US as available which makes sense. However, some are put off that it only shows the US as release country when I import and it's extremely time consuming to check every store to see if they have it. The following website shows the only countries that sell iTunes music: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204411. If it's not possible, I totally could see that, but if it's possible, it would be a great addition. I know every release is different, so I totally understand if it's not really possible.
Thank you for bringing this up! It's something I've been thinking a lot about myself, and you can find some of my thoughts in the topic I understand you are coming from. You'll have to excuse me for reviving an old discussion when it had just lain dead for two months, but hopefully I'll get some replies. I recommend that we wait to see if we can come to a conclusion one way or the other.
I think this would be feasible and not too difficult to implement naively, but I'm not sure if Apple would restrict doing a lot of requests or something like that. Of course, it would be a lot easier to just change the release country [Worldwide] if that would be deemed acceptable 🙂
The only problem with worldwide is that iTunes' list of all their counties is quite a bit different than Spotify's list of availability. There really seems to be a lot of the world that's not on iTunes' list. Look at all the countries that have no checks by them. I've done enough to know that China seems to be getting some now, but the rest are still nothing. And then that list doesn't even include all the countries when you compare it to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1#Current_codes
I'm aware of iTunes's restrictions. I would take take the differences between their and Spotify's restrictions as another reason not to keep detailed lists of availabilities, since we usually like to keep most services linked to one single digital media release. But we probably shouldn't have that discussion here. You are welcome to comment in the Discourse topic!
