Black screen/GPU acceleration troubleshooting
I ran into an error during my install where I got a black screen on Kaby Lake's iGPU when I tried to boot to the macOS installer. I had to change my DeviceProperties AAPL,ig-platform-id to fix this. I've recorded the steps I took to fix this issue, and also provided some helpful options in the Kaby Lake section of config.plist
I also ran into an issue where GPU acceleration was not working for my iGPU, so I've also included that fix that worked for me
It may be better to point people to the whatevergreen documentation instead. What may have worked for you may not work for others, and it’d be useful for every generation of iGPU. Also, black screens can occur with dedicated graphics cards so I would specify intel integrated graphics specifically in the troubleshooting section.
