Question
I want to boot/install a pre nt windows like 95, 98 and ME.
I tested it with an windows 98 iso as custom.iso, but i get a error message.
Error Message: Boot failed: Could not read from CDROM (code 0004)
I added support for pre-NT versions of Windows (95/98/ME) in version 3.11 of the image now.
That means, those images will boot.. There is no automatic installation and I already saw Win98 complains about a memory problem (?) after the installation is finished. So not really useable yet, but a small step closer.
Nice, automatic installation is not necessary. I think pre NT support would be nice for some edge cases and for nostalgic reasons. I will test it, but for this week I am not at home.
I tested the new version, it recognizes the correct Windows version, but could not find or boot the file “Boot-1.44M.img”. I also had a memory problem with Windows 98 on Virtualbox, the problem was the number of cores and the memory size. It worked with 1 core and 1g of memory.
@SMHRambo Which ISO did you use? Because I tested with Windows 98 Second Edition (Retail Full) from https://winworldpc.com/product/windows-98/98-second-edition and it contained the Boot-1.44M.img file, so I assumed every CD contained it.
My bad, my iso is a very old copy (retail verion) in a selfmade AIO version without boot folder. I tested the iso from the link and also a new iso copy of my retail version, it workes with 1 core and 1g of ram.
