Docker for Macos Sonoma 14.3.1

Open cliffordvaliente opened this issue 2 years ago • 7 comments

Description

I would like to ask if you guys use macos Sonoma 14.3.1 with the latest Docker Version available.

Does docker works good without any problems? Or there is a docker version that is stable?

I am still on Macos Monterey 12.7.3 and I was looking to upgrade to Sonoma if there is no issue on Docker.

I am on Mac Sonoma 14.3.1 on an intel based mac and I am able to run Docker. Screenshot 2024-02-09 at 8 41 05 AM

I am able to successfully run Docker version 4.26.1.

Make sure to download and use version 4.26.1 specifically (download link here: https://docs.docker.com/desktop/release-notes/#4261)

There is currently a known issue with versions 4.27.0 and 4.27.1 on mac where docker crashes after some time (#7164) .

4.27.1 (136059) always open Dashboard when starting. The "Open Docker Dashboard when Docker Desktop starts" setting is ignored.

Personally, the move to Sonoma was a lateral move, nothing improved, nothing broke. However, all 4.27.x versions have been a cluster of bad bugs for PHP-centric developers. Breaking bugs all around. I would stay on 4.26.x if possible

@AlexandrDev this has been fixed in the latest release 🙂

I'd say that 4.27.x currently is "working as long as you don't use it" currently at least if you're doing anything nodejs related. 4.25 && 4.26 are fine but for 27 you'll get:

  • massive performance regressions probably related to....
  • spurious network errors under load (running npm install for any largeish project won't work most of the time)

I think it's a networking stack issue but that's just conjecture.

@drunkcod do you have specific open issues you can point us about the problems you mention? Case not, can you open new issues with respective diagnostics id? Thanks

4.25.0, 4.26.1 and anything above 4.27.0 doesn't open docker desktop for me

I encountered the same issue described in another forum regarding the Apple M1 Arm Chip running MacOS Sonoma. https://zenn.dev/yusei_wy/scraps/a9f3a8ff84a60d
