Merging an alert results in duplication of assets

When i merge an alert (create event) with linked assets to a case. The asset will be created even, if same asset (Name,Type,Description,IP,....) exists at the section Case->Assets Is there a possibility not to create new one, if it already exists and only link non linked iocs to it?
