Remove Kaniko as a build engine
Due to Kaniko's being archived and no longer actively maintained, we are going to remove it as a build engine in a future release. We recommend users to find alternatives like buildkit.
This is simply not true. Kaniko only moved to another organisation including it's main developers. Please have a look at this. Buildkit is not a viable option in security aware environments, due to it's privilege requirements. This is emphasized by the fact that chainguard, well known for it's "secure by default" images, took it over. Only "secure" alternative I can think of is buildah, but it is not supported in devspace. Please postpone this decision to wait and see how Kaniko at chainguard develops. It has already earned more than 400 stars in about ten weeks.
