mesh issues - artifacts in the creases

I'm looking at stone_curved_1x4.stl in meshlab, and if I zoom down into the long horizontal gaps between the stones on the walls, I see all these fine little artifacts. Not sure how to fix, but I think these are why OpenScad is barfing when I try to work with it.
