@DustinKLo AFAIK nobody is working on this - want to try to fix it? Please make sure not to copy any non-open-source code.

It sounds like a problem with the elasticsearch plugin that you may want to report there. However it may be something fixable on the side of the OpenSearch plugin, so...

This is really a question for the authors of logstash, however I think it would be useful to document the behavior in this plugin, so let's leave this open. @nw-engineer...
