usaddress Is this project dead?

There have not been any meaningful commits for six years. Is this project still being maintained?

Are there any newer alternatives?

I've been looking around for alternatives, haven't found any yet. I'm currently experimenting with training a custom spaCy NER model using the training data from this repo. You can see my progress in this repo here, if you want to help, please do.

There is python blinding for libpostal library, here it is https://github.com/openvenues/pypostal

Both of them have parsing issues, unfortunately, there is no silver bullet.

For sure, I'm going to be doing some maintenance for usaddress here whenever I'm able! So updates to long-standing issues/prs might come slow, but I'll be aiming to address as much of that backlog as I can so this project is easier to maintain. I'll also be adding issue templates to make submitted parsing errors more actionable.

I'll be starting from the most recent issues/prs, but if there's anything in particular folks think should be tackled asap, definitely let me know!
