Sorry for not looking at this for a few days.

I've pushed an motd branch with some tweaks and more fleshed out tests, but the work is not complete. Sending an MOTD means sending the numerics 375, (several) 372s and a 376.

Do you think you could take a shot at implementing that? The tests I added should be a helpful guide.
