Adding 'cola' layout option

Open amloewi opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

The layout of my graph is terrible. I'm doing social network analysis, and I really need a high quality layout algorithm to get value from visualization of my data.

I would like the option to use the "cola"[https://ialab.it.monash.edu/webcola/] layout. Documentation suggests this could be very straightforward.

My project is already using react-d3-graph, and I've read in the issues that there are no better layout options. If one isn't developed, I may be forced to switch stacks outright, to something like cytoscape[https://cytoscape.org/]

I'm also open to suggestions as to how to improve my current layout -- it's in concentric circles for reasons I don't understand. But I believe "cola" is the best quality drop-in solution in general.

@amloewi - Did you happen to find a working solution for this by chance? I just stumbled onto this post and looking to be able to do something with this:

With drawing out network connectivity it would be good to be able to seperate systems into there logical VLAN and this would would be great if you got something like this working with this library.
