Encoding Pattern/Sport Type into GPX file

I am making GPX files from CSV files using a python script and I cant figure out how to incorporate the sport type into the GPX file. Can you provide an Example GPX file with the formatted sport type so i can replicate it. Or can you explain how pattern type is differentiated form the input files. Thanks.

+1 I can group different sets of data by classifying them under different sports.

Where in the GPX file or program can you classify them as different sportts, I can't seem where to place that in the actual file.
