Home offset setting

Open mcjoshea opened this issue 4 months ago • 0 comments

Hello,

When I scan with my Brother DCP-1610W using NAPS2, I consistently get a small amount of white space along both the horizontal and vertical home edges. While I can crop this out post-scan, a simple home offset setting would allow this margin to be removed during scanning.

Because the white space occurs before the edge of the platen, changing the paper size or altering any other settings does not eliminate it. All I am asking for is a way to crop this white space automatically during scanning.

I have tried the following without success:

  • All three horizontal alignment settings: left, right, and centre
  • The scale setting
  • Changing the page size
  • Adjusting offsets based on alignment
  • Using the scanner’s native UI

In my case, the white space measures approximately 31 pixels on the short side and 31–41 pixels on the long side.

This issue does not occur with the Brother software. I have also tested a CanoScan LiDE 400 scanner and found no white space issues with that device.

Thank you for considering this feature — a simple home-offset option would make NAPS2 much more precise for flatbed scanners with similar behaviour.

Thanks, Mark
