Update to React 17?

@ctxhou Do you have any plans to update this to be compatible with React ^17.0.0 / functional components & hooks? Thank you

hey @stevorr, thanks for asking. I don't have the plan to upgrade it to 17 in recent, but I will be able to review the change if you are interested in sending the PR
