Cannot open gdbgui Dashboard

When starting gdbgui from the terminal (by typing gdbgui or gdbgui &) I am unable to load the dashboard. A browser window opens, but all that is displayed is the message: Loading application, please wait Note: JavaScript and cookies must be enabled

Both Javascript and cookies are enabled.

I am running on Kali Linux 5.7 with Firefox Quantum 68.10.0esr(64 bit).
