Files do not keep their original dates (created, modified) when copying/importing into the Cryptomator vault folder

Open poppilov opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Description

Files do not keep their original 'created' 'modified' dates when importing into Cryptomator vault. I am a very big tech noob and feel out of my depth just being on GitHub. But the issue is basically the same as the one that this issue posted about the file creation/modification date being erased to the time and date of import/encryption into the vault thus losing that information. This is the thread:

https://github.com/cryptomator/cryptomator/issues/220 If you scroll to the end you will see a comment from me and another user that says this issue is present in macOS Big Sur 11.4 (latest version)

System Setup

  • Operating system and version: macOS Big Sur 11.4
  • Cryptomator version: 1.5.15 (latest)
  • Volume type: WebDAV - only one thats shown

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Dragging file from dropbox into the Cryptomator vault inside Dropbox
  2. File in vault folder shows new timestamp of when it was copied into the folder

Expected Behavior

The file is copied into the vault folder with the original modified and created date intact

Actual Behavior

The file is copied into the vault folder but the timestamp is the time/date when it is copied into the folder

Reproducibility

Always

Additional Information

As described in #220, this is not supported when using WebDAV drives. If the OS doesn't create PROPPATCH requests, there is no chance to adjust the dates.

Please use FUSE.
