search fields on the start page would be more user friendly
Since the start of our database using the ConedaKOR software, we have been asked several times whether it would not be better and more practical for the users if the search on the start page were integrated. Also could it be more prominent then? Could this be implemented by you? So that Kor could not only be used as a database but also as a user interface (software as service) without worrying about building your own user interface.
Unifying the search is on the roadmap for v4.0. Essentially, it will become one button "Search" that combines functionality of the simple-search and the expert-search. Is that what you mean with "integrated"?
Yes partly. First an integration would be great. Secondly they asked for a prominent search input field right on the starting page. Some people weren't able to even find the search fields (though they are visible and clickable on the left menu). They also don't read the instructions (or mouse over events in the "?").
*Now I really experience for myself how much how the "googleization" influences the user behaviour and their requirements - which influences all other GUI designs.
I could imagine a search field which is omnipresent, a bit like on https://stackoverflow.com/ ... This way, there'd be more of a "google" experience. What do you think?
Yes, users try stuff, if they are very motivated, they report their problems but they never read the docs. But I think we can still help them :)
Yes! Good idea.
