Model Authorship Policy - Best Practices Review
Perhaps this should be linked to the model intake, and maybe linked from the CML more info button?
CoMSES’ definition of authorship is based on the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts, composed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. In order to be identified as an Author, the following requirements must be met:
- A substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work;
- Participation in drafting or revising the work;
- Approval of the final computational model version to be archived or published;
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All individuals who qualify for authorship should be listed. However, any person can refuse to be an author if (s)he elects to do so. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content. Multi-center projects should identify the individuals who accept direct responsibility for the computational model. These individuals should each meet all three (3) conditions for authorship given above. When submitting a group authored computational model, the corresponding author should clearly identify all individual authors as well as any research group name. Procurement of funding, collection of data or general supervision of the research group in the absence of the above criteria does not alone justify authorship. Changes to a submitted model’s authorship or disputes concerning authorship will be adjudicated by the CoMSES team. Contact us with any authorship questions or concerns.
