Public Scope Statement - Best Practices Review

Text better describing the CoMSES Model Library to be added. My suggestion is to add to the about page or another tab to the About page, but there may be a better location I'm not thinking of.

The CoMSES model library (CML) stores agent-based models and provides them for download and examination. The intention of the CML is to provide uploaded computational models in perpetuity.

  • Models must include original source code, not binaries.
  • Model authors are strongly encouraged to include narrative documentation as well as other digital data that may be needed to run or analyze a model.
  • The CML is focused on social or ecological topics but models of other topics will not be excluded from the library unless the model’s focus is deemed inappropriate by the CoMSES staff.
  • Models must be uploaded by a model’s author.
  • Models stored in the CML are not reviewed for accuracy and may be inaccurate or misleading.
  • When downloading a model you do so at your own risk. Please contact us if you believe any user content submitted is inappropriate or problematic.
  • Models submitted to the CML possess a software license which must be honored by those using or building upon uploaded models.
  • CoMSES is is committed to the long-term preservation of the computational models and associated metadata entrusted to us. We have partnered with DataCite to provide DOIs for peer reviewed computational models and are actively engaged with the FAIR data and software citation communities to ensure that the models and metadata are maintained with digital preservation best practices in mind.
