Newlines inside link labels?

It seems that the spec (0.29) allows for arbitrary whitespace including newlines inside link labels, though the reference parser doesn't accept it. Which behavior is correct?

Blank lines shouldn't be allowed in link labels. Language should be added to the spec to rule them out (though newlines between non-blank lines are okay).
