M8 image broken and compile issues

On a Debian system (sid) current OpenElec.tv does not build because

1. check_deps script: name 'md5deep' has been deprecated and they baptized it 'hashdeep'.
2. 'mkimage' is not found on the first go (reported before, set in /projects/Amlogic/options)
3. 'u-boot-tools' is not found on the first go (also set in /projects/Amlogic/options)
4. an unzipped version of .zip downloaded code from github will not compile. The 'image' scripts uses git repository characteristics.
5. the /projects/Amlogic/devices/M8/linux/linux.arm.conf needs setting of CONFIG_AMAUDIO2=y Without the latter, compilation gives an error on a series of amaudio2 undefined references.

After manually fixing the 1-5 above the compilation succeeds. But the image does not work. The OpenElec logo appears and then the system hangs. Apart from 1-5 above, no other changes made to the code of OpenELEC.tv
