Won't boot after install

Open Jeronymus opened this issue 10 years ago • 3 comments

Any help ? I am trying to install OpenELEC on an M8 box. I am using the 4.97.3 zip. I have tried booting the box into recovery and updating from SD card and tried booting into the recovery on the SD card and installing that way. In each case the install appears to complete successfully. With the first method the process confirms that OpenELEC has installed successfully. In both cases the box won't boot afterwards. In displays the Amlogic M8 startup logo but will go no further. I have tried using the latest 5.0.3 zip with the same results. I have tried several times using different SD cards but always the same result. Any ideas ?

It is hard to say what causes the problem. The best way to catch the issue is to look at UART output.

Thanks, I wouldn't know how to do that and I am not sure if I even have the equipment to do so. Thinga have moved on a little bit though. I can reliably install OpenELEC. I made an SD card with the .zip of 4.97.3 and your params file but used the recovery.img from the latest factory firmware update. If the ethernet cable is unplugged, OpenELEC installs and works, however, I a reboot always crashes the device and requires a re-install. I can shutdown from the quit menu, power off the system and restart that way but if I select reboot it brings everything down. Hardware fault of some kind ?

As I said it is hard to say what causes the issues without looking into the logs.
