Rename "Top Committer" to "Top Maintainer" or "Top Contributor"
Project maintenance is not just code. Many maintainers spend significant amounts of time on design work and reviews. Calling this maintainer/contributor instead of committer will reflect that as a community we also value non-code technical contributions and take those into account in the award process.
I like the spirit of this idea, how about we add a new category of award called Top Contributor?
Top Committer/Maintainer kind of already means something in open source / foundation parlance... e.g., a git commiter (has write access to a repo etc).
FYI there was a reason we created the "Top Documentarian" award to highlight non-code contributions but focused on documentation, I think we can do the same for "Top Contributor" which highlights folks in a broader context.
It doesn't look like this has been implemented for this year. Bumping it again.
How would you draw the line between the renamed award (Top Committer -> Top Contributor) and the Chop Wood Carry Water Award? Sounds like they would be quite similar.
