Browser console is not *really* a JavaScript REPL
The line "the debugger has a console pane, which is a JavaScript REPL" is a helpful description for the most part. But it's not entirely accurate. Perhaps it's worth pointing out some of the quirks and differences between the console and JS engines, even if it's just a simple link to @getify's blog post or another site's description.
I think this should probably just be closed. The blog post seems to be an angry rant about minute details of devtools behavior. I don't think it would be at all helpful to hyperpolyglot's audience.
The browser console is a JavaScript REPL in every sense. Even the blog post does not really claim it is not; @getify at one point puts scare-quotes around "REPL", but apparently just out of pique.
angry rant...minute details...pique
heh, sure, ok.
@patik although I get your point although I agree with jorendorff this is a technicality and should be closed.
