Cant escape auth screen

What happened?

Tried signing in, CNL down, can't escape the model, no X or escape key to close this modal.

Expected result

Be able to close the modal

1. Try signing in when CNL is not working.

I am clearly aware that CnL is down; that is why this is a side effect of it happening. Nowhere am I claiming I'm trying to log in, I'm just trying to escape something that needs to be escaped.
