[FEATURE REQUEST] Leverage Quick Switcher UX when selecting note to Append

Open jamie9090 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

I would love to follow the behaviour of Obsidian default quick switcher when selecting notes to append in QuickAdd.

Current behaviour:

  1. Defaults to Scripts folder
  2. After typing, top selected item is to select a Note that doesn't exist. The "Example" in image below is a note that doesn't exist. This is true even when you have disabled "Create note if it doesn't exist". Screenshot_20230722_183651_Obsidian

Desired behaviour:

  1. When typing to search for a note, default selection to most relevant note so you can just press enter immediately. Screenshot_20230722_183328_Obsidian Screenshot_20230722_183351_Obsidian
  2. Only once you type text that doesn't match any note, offer to create a new note. Screenshot_20230722_183359_Obsidian

Additional features that are less critical but great UX which come from Quick Switcher would be:

  • Respect excluded files
  • Show files based on recency (either from QuickAdd Append, or from Obsidian recent files)
  • Have a button to create a new note based on text input if you want to have a new note immediately

I also noticed that searches are not very fuzzy, and seems to be relying more on a phrase match style.

See when trying to find "Future of Sales":
