Final Update:

Following the developer's suggestion, I have added - DISPLAY=:0 to the bytebot-desktop environment.

I also had to remove the healthcheck from the bytebot-desktop service, as the container was starting too slowly and was always marked as unhealthy, which stopped the entire stack from launching.

With the healthcheck removed, all containers now start successfully.

However, the VNC error Error: Tried changing state of a disconnected RFB object still persists when starting a task. This confirms that the VNC connection issue is a bug within the :edge images and not a user-side configuration error. The installation is now stable but unusable due to this VNC bug.
