Not Working in Windows 10
Hello friends,
How to work on windows 10 version?
Thanks
I just checked on a Win10 machine. It seems to run without any problems. Please note: If the GUI of your Win10 is not English you need to make settings in the registry. To find the correct Text for your language: Set 'ShowDefaultText' to 1 and execute a move operation. The text will be displayed. Copy this text exactly and paste it into 'ItemText'. Then set 'ShowDefaultText' back to 0.
Look for all details in: #13
Please note: you should have version v1.3.0.0 of the .dll developed by @bduffek! There is no package as there used to be. But simply download the two .dll and the installer from https://github.com/bduffek/DragDropConfirm/tree/01e14bc1581fc52bd0455bd6ea0491ee49185e42/Installer to a folder of your choice and run the installer.
Have fun!
I found a solution to run it on Windows 10 and Windows 11. (original solution: https://www.dxsdata.com/de/2016/01/windows-explorer-confirmation-before-moving-files/) There is something missing in the registry.
Here is how it goes...
Install DragDropConfirm
Create a reg-file with the following content. Please note, that the dialogs will appear in German. If you need another language of the confirmation dialog, you should translate the strings "AskTitle", "AskDesciption" and "ItemText"
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DragDropConfirm] "AskTitle"="Sicherheitsabfrage - Verschieben" "AskDescription"="Möchten Sie diese Datei bzw. dieses Verzeichnis wirklich verschieben?" "Install_Dir"="C:\Program Files\DragDropConfirm" "ItemText"="Hierher &verschieben"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DragDropConfirm] "Install_Dir"="C:\Program Files\DragDropConfirm" "AskTitle"="Sicherheitsabfrage - Verschieben" "AskDescription"="Möchten Sie diese Datei bzw. dieses Verzeichnis wirklich verschieben?" "ItemText"="Hierher &verschieben"
Import the reg-file. (you need local admin rights)
Should work as expected.
Well, I think this is the realization of my general solution (https://github.com/broken-e/DragDropConfirm/issues/27#issuecomment-902685506) for German... - see above
Anyway, thanks for the comment: I recently set up a Win11 machine and found that DragDropConfirm didn't work. I really forgot my own solution and found it here again! :-)
I don't understand the entry made in the Wow6432Node: I think only such entries are made there that are only valid for 32-bit. That does not also apply to Win11 any longer?
It's so the same configuration information is read in 32 bit and 64 bit mode. If I recall correctly (since it's been a few years), the 32 bit version is used on 64 bit Windows for 32 bit programs opening file dialogs. Without saving there, the configuration would be stored in different places for dialog boxes in 64 bit and 32 bit programs. I think if you only register the 64 bit version, it won't work at all in file dialog boxes in 32 bit programs.
Even with Windows 11 being only 64 bit, it can still run 32 bit applications.
