Bridge v2.7.17 Random Crash

Open Suffix30 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Summary

Bridge v2 is experiencing unexpected crashes, which are particularly evident when a model is viewed within the application. The crashes also occur randomly during general use.

To Reproduce

  1. Open Bridge v2.
  2. Navigate to 'View Model'.
  3. Interact with the application during model viewing or perform various tasks in no specific sequence.
  4. Encounter a crash to desktop at a random point.

Observed behavior

The application crashes to the desktop without warning. These crashes are unpredictable and can occur during any stage of application use, but they are more frequent when interacting with models.

Platform

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631

  • CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13500H, 2600 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)

  • GPU 1: Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics

  • GPU 2: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU

  • RAM: 16.0 GB Installed Physical Memory

  • App Version: 2.7.17

Additional context

The issue does not seem to be replicated with any other applications on the same machine, which suggests it could be isolated to Bridge v2. The random nature of the crashes makes it difficult to pinpoint the exact trigger. Additional monitoring and testing are ongoing to determine the cause.

If you find more information on the crashing triggers let me know. My best guess is it has to do with trying to read a file with rust and failing.

Rust failing to read a file does not appear to be the case. Unsure what is causing this.

Updated Information Based on Further Observations and Troubleshooting

Memory Reference Issue

Attached is a screenshot of a recent error message indicating a memory reference issue (0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF). This might provide some insight into the underlying problem.

Diagnostics and System Checks

Performed memory diagnostics and system file checks (SFC and DISM). No issues were detected with the RAM or system files.

Compatibility Mode

Attempted running Bridge v2 in compatibility mode for Windows 10. This did not mitigate the crashing issue.

Driver Updates

Ensured all system drivers, particularly GPU drivers (both Intel Iris Xe and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050), are up to date.

Plugin Installation

Additionally, the application crashes when installing plugins. However, the plugin successfully installs after the crash, and upon rebooting Bridge v2.
