[Feature Request] Sourceport Options Menu
The one thing that gets me about DOOM Retro is the lack of an options menu. This is pretty egregious to me, because I don't want to rummage through the .cfg file. Some sort of internal options menu would be appreciated. I get this is meant to be a minimalist port, but to me this is a necessity.
You can change everything from the console, too.
That is true, but an options menu feels like something that should be there from the start. Were there any plans to include one? I'm betting that it was pretty low on the priority list since the default options are pretty hard to complain about aside from the screen shaking feature.

I had asked at some point but Brad wanted to keep the menu close to vanilla. But maybe things have changed. Personally, I use the cfg or the console.
There is a chance I may implement a full options menu at some point in the future, perhaps even the next major release (after the one I'm working on now). I'm kinda fussy about how it will look though, as I don't want it to be the long mess of options you see in ZDoom ports, and PrBoom+.
You could have a separate setup.exe like Choco/Crispy.

Understandable. ZDoom's menus are pretty cluttered.

Honestly, I'd be cool with that.

Never been keen on this idea. I think I will go for a full options menu. And at the same time, implement mouse pointer support in the menus.
Surprising ... I mean, I would imagine menu mouse support isn't needed.
I would definitely like to see an in-app menu, yeah... the "Crispness" menu in Crispy DOOM is nice, as is the "setup" EXE they offer to amend your keyboard controls and joypad buttons.
Though if the latter could at-least be implemented somehow in the Console (for example, maybe a user could type joypad_config, hit ENTER, and it would then go through each control -- such as "Press controller button for USE, or press ESCAPE to skip binding") then I could live with only having the Console. Providing the help documentation is always updated to explain what each command is and does.
