Did this ever work on the boxee box? Maybe theres a way to bring it back. Do you remember what screen it showed on?

What version of the software was this in, I dont recall this feature? While I think it would be really nice, my guess is they probably removed it since it requires the remote and Boxee to "poll" each other like a wireless mouse does with a computer, which shortens battery life (even though just by a little bit maybe?).

Just had a look through the code, but the battery status monitoring is still in the Boxee executable. Don't know yet if we can access it through the UI though, but will look into it...

There is some commented out XML in boxee_browse_menu.xml

<!-- control type="image">
                    <visible>Boxee.RemoteLowBattery + !boxee.isdownloadingupdate</visible>
                    <posy>4</posy>
                    <width>40</width>
                    <height>24</height>
                    <texture>mainmenu/graphic-battery.png</texture>
                </control -->

I've tried uncommenting this, and it does seem to work so far as I am getting the low battery symbol appearing in the popup menu every few times I press a button on the remote. However, I'm not sure how accurate this is as my remote control seems fine. I think this is the reason that the feature was removed, it has a tendency for false positives.

Problem was most likely the frequency of a poll.
