Issue exporting my podcasts list

Open ghost opened this issue 8 years ago • 8 comments

Hi Arvid,

I'm experiencing an issue when I try to export this opml file to storage. Essentially I tap the button and nothing else happens. No file within my SD, nor other prompting comes up. We talked via e-mail but I never heard back from you. Allegedly, you hadn't had Internet service this time and that's why you haven't been able to update the application. I kind of wanted to open the issue on GitHub so that others may discuss it further and you don't forget about as time passes by.

I recall you said there was a problem with Android permissions over storage, yet I never knew whether you narrowed down what the culprit was. I've tried doing it on both Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat. Different devices. No luck.

I'm concerned because I do not want to lose my podcasts list in such scenario I need to perform a factory reset or my handsets are stolen. If somebody else knows a workaround, don't hesitate showing up.

Information about the application:

SoundWaves Version: 0.150.370-free-release Cache dir /storage/7DDD-1241/Android/data/org.bottiger.podcast/files/tmp Podcast location /storage/emulated/0/Podcasts

Best, Rottenwheel.

@rottenwheel Let me know if version 0.157 fixes it.

@bottiger I'm running F-Droid compiled version here. Due to the fact it hasn't been compiled by them, I haven't been able to get my hands on it as of yet. I'll provide you with further feedback when I try to export my list using such .apk version. Thanks!

@bottiger The bug persists. I go to Import/Export, tap Export OPML file, Export to storage and nothing happens other than bringing me back to the main Import/Export screen.

@rottenwheel I've pushed 0.158.2 to F-droid. Hopefully it will build tomorrow and be a bit more aggressive with reporting errors. Please let me know what the text below "Export subscriptions to OPML" says.

@bottiger Thanks. I will update the repositories until I receive the update. Hopefully they don't take too long this time. As soon as get my hands on it, I will try to catch a new log for you.

Yes, there used to be small pop-up when exporting. Problem is, there's nothing at the moment.

Side note: the Storage permission is enabled within Android settings, Camera, Contacts and Phone are not. I don't think it'd be a problem, though I decided to let you know. If what's it doing is saving a file, it only requires Storage permission, doesn't it? As far as I recall, I tried disabling and enabling it back, no dice either.

@bottiger I got the 0.158.2 version. Tried to export the OPML file, same scenario: no head-up message below the options and goes back to the main screen of Import/Export.

On an unrelated note, I've been noticing since 0.158 (may be happening before, yet I'm not entirely sure because it wasn't happening back in the days). There's this buggy behaviour when playing episodes. Essentially, the reproduction starts with few seconds or minutes forward. For instance, 1-hour long podcasts, start at 00:20 or 15:23. It happens with some, others start okay.

Hopefully the new log might give you hints about what the culprit is: https://gist.github.com/e55969a6af3a131d04e61f85c8b426b0

As usual, let me know if I can do further research on my end to help you out.

Thanks!

@rottenwheel I understand there is no heads-up message. However, what does the text in the on the export page say:

Also. Regarding the seeking I am aware of it, and it has been fixed in 0.158.4 which is just waiting to be compile on F-droid. A quickfix is to make sure the episode is downloaded when you listen to it.

@bottiger Pretty much what yours say. Export your subscriptions to the internal storage. They are stored on /storage/emulated/0/podcasts.opml

Perhaps I used to have a heads-up prompting when it was working in the past, I don't recall. soundwaves

Thanks!
